What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile, ultra-thin, disposable needles into the skin at specific points in the body.

Acupuncture is mainly based upon the concept of the balance between the body and nature. If this balance is disturbed by external pathogens or internal disorders, the body will react negatively by showing symptoms of illness. These imbalances can be restored through stimulation of specific points on the body, which then regulate the flow of energy and blood in their pathways.

Acupuncture has a positive influence:

  • it relieves pain in releasing natural painkillers and reduces the perception of the pain

  • it reduces inflammation

  • it restores homeostasis of the body (internal balance with the outside environment)

  • it promotes blood flow

  • it relaxes shortened muscles

  • it reduces stress

  • it stimulates the body's built-in healing mechanism- the brain creates new responses as a result of external stimuli
